Charter Hosts Art Exhibit of Nicolai Fechin:
New Mexico's Own Russian Artist
Santa Fe, NM (08/05/04) Nicolai Fechin, the Russian-born artist called New Mexico home from 1927-1933. As part of the great Southwestern Art Movement, it was in New Mexico amid the grandeur of mountain and desert that some of his greatest work emerged.
Charter Bank⋅Mortgage⋅Insurance is pleased to announce its contribution to Russian Summer with an opening of a rare exhibit celebrating New Mexico's tie to this profound Russian artist. The exhibit features Dumont Maps & Books of the West's rare and complete 1946 set of 16 drawings and lithographs, and rare or signed books about the artist.
Forrest Fenn, founder of Fenn Galleries and author of the "Genius of Nicolai Fechin: Personal Recollections," will speak at 5:00 p.m.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, August 13 at Charter Bank, 208 Washington Avenue, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Hors d' oeuvres will be served and jazz music performed by Brian Fitzgerald and Mark Komer.
